The New Cars signed setlist

I won this on The New Cars website last year. It is soooo coool!!! :) They had a setlist contest. Whoever sent in the best setlist won the signed setlist. When I entered the contest, I had no idea that I would win. They never used my setlist. :(

Kasim and love

A cool fan of Kasim's reminded me that I forgot to do a post regarding Kasim and the use of the word "love" in his songs. As you may remember from a post I did last year, I talked about Kasim using the word "waste" in his songs or variations of the word and the reason why I think he does that. Now I will talk about Kasim using the word "love" in his songs.

I found ten songs with the word "love" in the song title. The songs are:

I can't believe it's been two years ago!

This picture was taken before The New Cars show at Wolf Trap on June 6, 2006. I'm wearing a Utopia Redux 92 t-shirt that I got from a dear friend of mine. We all were so excited that day to see Todd and Kasim on stage with the reformed Cars. The show did almost sell out. All of the section I was in (the front orchestra section-the up close seats) was completely full. Not an empty seat. The show was great! The two most memorable moments that night were:

1. Hearing Kasim sing Drive. It was also the first time I've seen him sing by himself. I've never been to one of his solo shows yet. I loved it!! When the song was over, I stood up and clapped and clapped and clapped. He saw me and bowed toward my side of the audience. So he knew where I was sitting! :)

2. TNC doing Black Maria!! I freaked out when they started doing it. It was soooo good!! I've always wanted to hear this song done live.

I was so lucky to have seen this show. Now there are no more New Cars.

Thanks to my Todd trading friend, I now have this show on CD. Everytime I hear it, it brings back memories about that night.

A good time was had by all! :)

On This Day In Kasim History

On This Day In Kasim History....February 19,1998 was the first time I saw Todd and the second time I saw Kasim. It was on Todd's With A Twist tour at The Coppermine in Petersburg, VA.

Here is some of my review:

I first met Kasim on February 19,1998 at Todd Rundgren's With A Twist concert in Petersburg, Virginia at the Coppermine. I saw him before and after the show.
I met him an hour before the show by accident. I was watching television in the bar area of the club. The television was on the wall and a pinball machine was below it. I saw that someone was playing pinball but I couldn't see who it was. So I kept on watching television. Then I looked down for a minute and when I looked up, guess who was looking at me from the pinball machine??? You guessed right if you said Kasim!! I couldn't believe it!! He must have thought that I was looking at him and not at the television.
He was dressed in black clothes and he had his hair down in his face. I think he was trying to blend in and not be noticed. While he was playing pinball, he had a soft drink in a styrofoam cup in his left hand and a cigarette in his right hand. I didn't know whether I should go over and say hi or not. I didn't want to bother him. But I thought what if I don't get to see him after the show? So I went over to him and I said hi and he said hi. I didn't know what to say to him because I was so nervous. Then he told me to not be nervous because there was nothing to be nervous about. (I'll always remember that!! :) ) I asked him if the band would be around after the show to sign autographs and take pictures and he said he thought they would. So I told him I would see him later and have a great show. He said okay.
The show was wonderful!! After the show, I waited for about an hour to be able to see him again. The band ate a late dinner at the restaurant next door. I waited by the bus door for him to come out of the restaurant. I met Jesse (Todd's guitar player) first. He was really nice. Then while Jesse was signing my With A Twist CD booklet, here comes Kasim!
He gave me his autograph and I took a picture with him. Unfortunately, I don't have the picture because a fan of Kasim's took the pic and she never sent it to me.
Kasim got on the bus and I got back in line to see Todd. Todd was sitting in the bus driver's seat signing stuff. He signed a Utopia calendar. I asked him if I could take a picture with him and he said "ok let me finish up here and I will get off the bus and take a picture with you."
Todd got off the bus and took a picture with me and my mom. He was so nice!

It was a night I will never forget. I still can't believe it was 10 years ago!

Kasim on tour with Todd Rundgren and Kasim's solo shows in February-March.

Kasim's back on tour with Todd Rundgren now. A mini tour. Same set list as in December's shows. Kasim still has the goatee. I don't really like him with it. When I see the pictures of him with it, I say that's his evil brother Tony! :) My poll on For The Love Of Kasim says no to the goatee. I wonder if Kasim has heard about my poll and voted? He probably voted yes. IMHO, I think he gets lazy sometimes and doesn't want to shave.

After Todd's shows, Kasim will be doing his tour with the Kasim Sulton Band. I wonder who's going to be in the band? I'm thinking Doug Kennedy, Mark Alexander, Randy Flowers, and maybe that guy who was with him in 2006-Dennis was his name I think. With a band behind him, he can do songs that he couldn't do if he were by himself. I've always wanted Kasim to do White And Red.

We should all find out soon when the other solo dates will be. Crossing my fingers for a Virginia show!
